Player: Maxwell Coles
Class: 2022
Height: 6'0
School: North Mecklenburg

2022 Maxwell Coles is a name some may know and some that don't but the 6'0 guard has been putting in the work, preparing himself for what he hopes to be a big summer and a big season at North Meck.  Coles is a player that continued to pop up on reports and standouts, as he has really elevated his game over the past few years.  Playing for JV before, Coles has certainly put in the hours of work to develop his game, get stronger, and is now a nice piece for the Vikings and he isn't stopping there.  The one thing outside of his game and ability to score that you have to respect is his work ethic, playing with a chip on his shoulder.

'The year before, I wasn't picked to be moved up from JV for the playoffs and it made me really grind on another level and changed the way I play,' he told Phenom Hoops.  'I felt like I had something to prove to everyone.  Going into the season, coach said I was the best scorer on the team, so I had my role developed as a scorer.'

Now, Coles is ready for what he hopes is a big summer, showing more of his game, his scoring capability, and that he is an underrated prospect in North Carolina.

'This summer, I plan to train harder and become even better.' The pedal is on the gas for me, as I don't have any scholarships yet, so I want to show how underrated I am.' I hope to become more consistent in my game because, since AAU, I have had 30-point games and 12-point games. I want to help my team by averaging 17+ and bringing the same mentality every game.'

When asked about his goals this upcoming high schools season, Coles mentioned that he wants to become a bigger leader, try to shoot 60 percent from three, and of course, win every game.

What Has Been Said:

'Next, we look at a player that easily stood out as one of the most impressive scorers in attendance, Maxwell Coles. He's a smart, crafty, well-rounded guard prospect with the necessary instincts to effortlessly create scoring opportunities from all three levels. Coles can initiate the offense, set up others, or simply carry the offensive load for periods at a time. He moves well without the ball to find open space, both as a cutter and spot-up threat. Coles' understanding of timing and defenses allow him to pick his spots and access basically whatever shot he chooses.' ' Phenom All American Camp Evaluation

'North Meck has Crawford and Cunningham, but Coles showed that he could be another threat for his team.  After a strong first game, he backed it up with a 20+ point performance, getting to the rim and to the line at a high rate.  Cole is one to keep an eye on and has put in the work this summer.' ' Patrick O'Brien from Halloween Havoc

'He is a scorer who can really fill it up. Shifty, crafty guard who has the ability to create his own shot. Microwave off the bench.' ' Tyler Lewis from Open Gym at North Meck
