Early morning standouts. A sold out list of some of the best high school’s in this region gathered at Proehlific Park to compete against one another at Phenom’s Summer Jam, Session 1.
Even early in the morning, first game set of the day the college coaches were baseline and the kids came out to compete.
Here are some of the standouts.
6’3” 2019 Dhieu Deng
High Point Central High School (High Point, NC)
Deng impressed with his ability to play under control, with blazing speed. He touched the paint often, using his length to finish at the rim. He also shot the ball well from beyond the arc, finishing with 18 points. Deng’s game has taken a step and is one who should receive considerable college interest come July.
6’8” 2020 Kulul Mading
High Point Central High School (High Point, NC)
Mading walks onto the floor looking the part. He has great length and athleticism. Offensively, he is a rim running big who should develop more as he continues to get stronger. Defensively is where is presence is felt as a rim protector. He is able to switch in space and defend multiple positions. Very nice upside, good look.
6’ 2020 Landon Sutton
High Point Christian (High Point, NC)
Sutton continues his climb since the end of last season. Always been a shooter, but his ability as a point guard has been great. He handles the ball well in space and creates plays for others in the half court. Still with two years of high school to continue to develop, Sutton is well on his way to picking up multiple offers soon.
6’8” 2020 Nick McMullen
Ben L. Smith High School (Greensboro, NC)
McMullen continues to get better and better each time out. The lefty big man, has great length and moves his feet very well. Always able to shoot, when is feet are set, he did a great job attacking close outs and finishing around the basket. Great length and considerable upside, should be on every mid-majors radar for July.
6’5” 2021 Jadun Michael
The Burlington School (Burlington, NC)
Michael picked up his first offer today, from Hofstra. That should be the first of many. Already 6’5” the 2-way wing goes out and makes winning plays on both ends of the floor. An explosive athlete who plays with a high motor, he has ball skills to create at 3 levels and he is a very active rebounder. Should be considered one of the 10 best 2021s in NC.
