6’7” 2019 Brice Williams
Hopewell HS (Charlotte, NC)
The eye opening performances continue for Williams as he is really showing to be one of the top wings the Hoop State has to offer in the 2019 class. He has all the tools, with a lengthy and strong frame, he can handle the ball in tight spaces, create offense and shoot the ball with range. He has great feel and the ability to make those around him better. Still surprising he only has Charlotte and Lafayette, but schools at higher levels should be watching closely.
6’8” 2020 Kulul Mading
High Point Central HS (High Point, NC)
The upside here is off the charts. Mading walks onto the floor with great length and athleticism. He showed the ability to shoot the ball from beyond the arc, rip through and attack the basket or finish above the rim. He is a high level rim protector and just starting to scratch the surface. As the light continues to come on, watch out. A lot of tools here.
6’7’ 2019 Jibril McCormick
Hough HS (Cornelius, NC)
The modern game seems to really be following McCormick well. The lengthy and skilled 4-man showed a diverse skill set. For starters, he has great length and good athleticism. He showed the ability to get to the basket off one and two dribbles and he consistently knocked down 3s off the catch. McCormick has good length from the weak side and was able to move his feet in space. A lot to like here and he seems to really be figuring it out just in time. Scholarship schools should watch him in July.
6’8” 2020 Nick McMullen
Ben L. Smith HS (Greensboro, NC)
McMullen really started taking strides this April. He played an integral role, the past two seasons, for Eastern Guilford, who had an incredible run to a state championship appearance and a state final four appearance. He was a secondary piece for both teams. This year, he is the featured player for a Ben L. Smith High School team who is expected to make a lot of noise. The lengthy big has pick and pop ability as well as the ability to attack off the bounce. He’s a good one, who continues to get better.
6’3” 2019 Dhieu Deing
High Point Central HS (High Point, NC)
Deing gets the nod for probably being the quickest player in the entire event. The lengthy, quick-twitch point guard was able to get anywhere on the floor he wanted. Deing showed the ability to make shots, consistently, at all three levels and he defended well both in space and off the ball. A lot to like with this one and he is one who coaches should be watching closely in July.
6’6” 2020 James Dotson
Ashbrook HS (Gastonia, NC)
Dotson went out and played his role. When he was in the game, Ashbrook was scoring and competing, when he was out the opposition usually went on a run. Dotson has great length and good springs in his game. He finished well around the rim and showed the ability to defend multiple position on the floor. He fought hard and he competed. He is a gritty type winner and it will be interesting to continue monitoring him and see where his game develops.
