Phenom’s JMac Showcase and CP3 Live are known year after year in the basketball community as the top Live Period event through our region and as one of the top events in the country.

Coaches from all over are in attendance watching, with head coaches from some of the most notable blue blood programs across the basketball landscape in attendance.

Here are some storylines we are watching for this weekend

Part 1: Elite Seniors Who Have Paired Down Their Final Groups

It is that time of year. High major coaches are in closing mode. With some of the top seniors, around the country, narrowing their list of schools and making decisions. This event will have quite a few top 2019 prospects who have narrowed their list of schools and have colleges in full bore close mode.

6’8” Greg Gantt (Team Felton)
4-star Rivals #54
Final 9 – Providence, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Pittsburgh, Clemson

Gantt is an elite defensive prospect who plays as an incredible tool within a system. He is a high level athlete and is able to guard the 2-4 positions comfortably with the ability to defend the point of the press and switch onto 5s in time. Great vision, nice shot when his feet are set, Gantt game fits exactly with the way the game is heading and major programs have taken not of that

6’7” Josiah James (TMP Elite)
5-Star Rivals #11
Final 9 – South Carolina, Duke, Michigan St, Kansas, Florida St, Clemson, Virginia, Arizona, Tennessee

James rise has been rapid over the last year. He has gone from unknown to national scouts to being talked about as a legit 1-and-Done Lottery pick. James has all the tools of a 6’7”, long armed point guard. His pace of play is off the charts, his explosion is high level and his vision/IQ is elite. It took the national guys a long time to notice, but he is a name many certainly will not forget.

6’6” Wendell Moore (Team CP3)
5-Star Rivals #25
Final 5 – Duke, South Carolina, Wake Forest, UNC, NC State

Moore has been a fixture as a starter for his age group in Team USA games. He is among the elite swiss army knifes in the country. A true Scottie Pippen type of player and all he does is win. 16u Peach Jam Championship, a 17u Peach Jam Elite 8, and back to back state championships Moore is the ultimate winner and gamer.

As July is closing season, expect to see coaches from all of these programs in the stands watching throughout the weekend…They will be in for a treat!
