Coach Mike Huff and Voyager Academy enjoyed a banner 2016-17 season finishing with an overall record of 25-8 and going 16-2 in the North Central Athletic 1A classification of the NCHSAA. This year's roster is filled with senior leadership and big things are expected for Coach Huff this upcoming 2017-18 season. Now, let's look at the seniors that will be making the biggest impact of the team this season.

6'5 '18 Jordan Love

Jordan Love is out for s short time due to a hand injury. Jordan is an extremely athletic wing guard has tremendous speed in the open court. He has a very smooth/fluid game and could easily transition as a backup point guard at the next level. He has really good handles and we've always been impressed with his court vision and passing ability. Coach Huff stated, 'Jordan is a D1 talent. He is a very talented offensive player capable of playing three positions. He has great speed with the basketball and can score at all three levels.' Last year, Jordan was the team's leading scorer averaging 16.2 PG, 4.3 RPG, 2.3 APG and shot 43% from the 3-point line.

6'5 '18 Blake Buchanan

We've watched Blake countless times this summer and came away impressed each time. We're talking about an all-around player that simply knows the game and how to win, not to mention an advanced skill set and basketball IQ. Coach Huff stated, Blake is a stat sheet filler. He led Voyager in assists, rebounds and free throw percentage. He is also an outstanding student looking for a strong academic school.' Last season, Blake averaged 7.0 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 2.6 APG and shot 88% from the free throw line.

6'3 '18 Haydn Lyons

We've watched Haydn countless times at previous Phenom events. He has demonstrated time and time again to be a lethal perimeter shooter, especially from the 3-point line. In addition, he is also a very good passer off the dribble. Coach Huff stated, 'Haydn is a crafty player with a high basketball IQ who knows how to score. He is capable of hitting five or six 3-pointers every time out. While he is a terrific 3-point shooter, Haydn can also score on the interior as well as the midrange.' Last year, Haydn averaged 9.3 PPG and made a team high 62 3-pointers.

6'4 '18 Michael Boadu

Michael has a nice combination of athleticism and skills. He is one of the team's more versatile players and can play multiple positions. Coach Huff stated, 'Michael is an undiscovered talent. He has excellent footwork, can post up and score, shoot 3-pointers and has a strong midrange game. Michael keeps the game simple and is a strong defender.' Last year, Michael averaged 9.9 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and shot 56% from the field.

5'9 '18 Taleik Pratt

Taleik has tremendous athleticism and outstanding speed. We have also been impressed with his smooth shooting touch from outside the arc. In addition, Taleik uses his speed effectively to get to the rim. Coach Huff stated, 'Taleik can get to the rim and finish, deliver a pass for a score, make the floater, or hit the mid-range jump shot.' Last year, Taleik averaged 7.4 PPG, 2.2 RPG, and 1.3 APG. In addition, we have also been impressed with basketball IQ and overall court sense.
