Phenom High School Jamboree Team Preview'
Durham Academy
Coach Tim McKenna'

Durham Academy is coming off a 23-6 campaign during the 2016-17 season in NCISAA 3A classification and was co-TISAC Conference Champions. Coach McKenna will lose three starters from last year's team, but does have ample depth and talent for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Coach McKenna will have a nice blend of youth and experience and will get the season started at the Phenom High School Jamboree Saturday at Proehlific Park in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Key Returners

6'1 '18 Charlie Mendy (Roanoke College)

We got ample opportunities to watch Charlie Mendy this past summer. He is an exceptional perimeter shooter and can be effective off the catch and has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble/bounce. Charlie averaged 11.3 PPG last season and was one of the better 3-point shooters in the conference. Charlie was named All Conference and will be looked upon for senior leadership.

6'3 '19 Bryant Randleman

Bryant Randleman is such an intriguing athlete. He has nice length and versatility. He can play and guard multiple positions on the court. With his size, athleticism, and overall skill, Bryant will be a player on the D1 radar. Coach McKenna stated,''Bryant is an athletic and explosive point guard and is a tremendous on ball defender. He will play significant minutes for this year's team.'

6'0 '19 Michael Savarino

Michael Savarino averaged 6.3 PPG last season as a sophomore, but will be asked to help with the scoring load this season. Micahel has participated in several Phenom camp events and we've always been impressed with his ability to knock down perimeter shots with consistency. He is fundamentally sound and has a high basketball IQ.

5'11 '18 Jack McCallie

Jack McCallie averaged 7.8 PPG last season as a junior, but that doesn't begin to tell the entire picture. Jack can really shoot the 3-point shot with efficiency, not to mention a quick release. While he is somewhat undersized at the shooting guard position, Jack plays much bigger due to his hustle and determined play.

Top Newcomer

6'2 '21 Cole Sinclair

It may be a little unfair to put Cole Sinclair in the top newcomer category especially since he got key minutes last year as an eight grader. Cole averaged 4.3 PPG last season and will be counted on to provide more minutes and scoring opportunities this coming season. Cole has a physically mature and strong frame and has really made huge improvements in his game. He is relentless in attacking the rim and has really embraced the idea of getting his teammates involved more in the offense. Cole is a tireless worker on and off the court and has all the physical tools, intangibles and attributes to be a legit D1 prospect.
