Carlisle School
Coach Brandon Smith

For Coach Brandon Smith, he’s been in a rebuilding process for the Carlisle School. Coming into the new basketball season, Coach Smith is looking for improvements on the court and now has more veteran players. With the Phenom High School jamboree a few weeks away, we wanted to take a look at some of the key players for Carlisle and Coach Brandon Smith.

6’6 ’18 BJ Fitzgerald

BJ Fitzgerald is a natural scorer and is very aggressive on the offensive end of the court. Fitzgerald has tremendous length and can really handle the ball well for his size. Coach Smith stated, “Fitzgerald has the ability to drive and shoot. He has tremendous range on his jump shot and is also very effective in the pick and roll.”

6’2 ’19 Moses Nuangki

Nuangki hails from Australia and is in his first year in the United States. Nuangki recently attended the NC Phenom 150 Session 2 camp on October 15th and was named to the first team ALL CAMP TEAM. He was also invited to the Team Loaded Combine on October 29th. In addition, Nuangki was one of the younger players on the 18U Australian team. Coach Smith stated, “Nuangki has the ability to play on and off the ball. At 6’2, Nuangki has a lengthy wing span and is tough to defend when attacking the rim. He has shown the ability to score at all three levels. Nuangki will bring that international style of play to our system, but seems to respond well to the style of play here in the U.S. With great quickness and lateral movement, Nuangki will be another threat to opponents on defense.”

6’1 ’19 Bryce Hall

Hall is a reclassified junior. He will be one of Carlisle’s primary ball handlers, but will be playing both guard positions. Coach Smith stated, “Bryce Hall has great court vision and passing ability. He has the ability to drive and get to the rim through contact because of his solid frame. His mid-range game is consistent and is improving his 3-point shooting ability. Hall is a lockdown defender and has good lateral movement.”

5’8 ’28 Denzel Bernard

Last year, Bernard played the majority of minutes at the point guard position, but this season Coach Smith will utilize them at both guard positions. Coach Smith stated, “Bernard will be used more for his ability to catch and shoot. He’s a lefty and is really hard to defend when he attacks off the dribble. Bernard can score from all three levels. Defensively, he is a pesky defender because of his quickness and lateral movement.”
