Phenom’s High School Jamboree Preview

5’11” 2017 Jalen Spicer of Northwest Guilford (NC)
By Jamie Shaw

Spicer is a name that people know, he is a player that people love. Throughout the process Spicer picked up offers from the likes of Hampton, NC A&T, FIU, and UNC Greensboro.

Spicer is a confident point guard, who plays with his head up and handles with the ball on a string. Last season at Northwest Guilford High School, the lefty averaged 12 points, 3.5 boards, 8.5 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. We just felt the need to reiterate that he averaged 8.5 assists per game!

As with the majority of D1 prospects in North Carolina, Spicer is an alum of the prestigious North Carolina Top 80. After his performance in 2015 we wrote, “Jalen is a crafty and cagey PG with excellent court vision. He has advanced passing skills and loves to attack the middle of the defense. While not the fastest or most athletic PG, Jalen combines good athleticism with an advanced skill set along with the right mental approach to the game. The lefty can be creative off the dribble, which allows him to get where he wants to go. Jalen often makes the right read and makes timely passes to position his teammates into easy scoring opportunities.”

There will be a lot of college’s eyes on Spicer during this event. He is a natural leader who players love to play with. He should put on a show…
