It is no surprise that senior Mikey Dukes of First Baptist puts up stats. No matter the sport, not matter the ball, Dukes is just built differently from most, be it his physical stature, his quick twitch and vertical explosion or his competitive nature, but a ball in Dukes’ hands and he’s going to do something you’ve never seen before.

Just this season, on the football field for First Baptist (a SCISA 3A program), the 5’11” Dukes rushed for 2,030 yards on 188 carries (10.8 ypc) with 31 total touchdowns. This brings his career totals to 4,562 total yards and 73 career touchdowns. Astronomical numbers, by any measure. He currently carries a litany of offers, while having already visited East Carolina and Syracuse with plans to visit Virginia Tech.

On the basketball floor, Dukes went over 1,000 career points on December 24 of last season. A junior season which saw him average 22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. On Monday night, Dukes got his senior season off to a bang scoring 44 points, a new career high.

Earlier this year (January 12) we wrote, “Mikey Dukes is a Power 5 Prospect in Multiple Sports”. Later that week Dukes played in Phenom’s Low Country Jam at Porter Gaud and there he finished with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals in the game. Not only did he fill the stat sheet, he provided the crowd with some unbelievably electric plays.

For starters, Dukes is the fastest player in the Southeast with the ball in his hands. After makes, he has a tendency to be a working fast break, simply pushing and beating everyone down the floor. Dukes is also explosive around the rim. Each game he makes at least one offensive and defensive which almost shuts the gym down. Be it a chase down block or a huge dunk in traffic, the excitement level is off the charts as he keeps the audience on the edge of their seats each second he is on the floor.

Excitingly enough, Dukes will be facing off with another one of the most exciting players in South Carolina on December 15 as First Baptist faces off with Hunter Kinard Tyler and their walking highlight film of Marlow Gilmore.

Sure the 3:00 PM start time is the first game of the day, but you best get in the stands and prepare for some plays that will bring you to your feet.
