Another day on the AAU grind and there’s no place I’d rather be than sitting on the baseline watching some of the up and comers within the #HoopState do their thing on the court.  There have been some really competitive games here thus far at #Phenom3G and here are some of the impact performers from this morning.

5’10 2021 Dwayne Anderson: DNS Sports/Voyager Academy

Anderson plays with a chip on his shoulder at all times on both ends of the court and it really shows with the way his coach and teammates trust him to make plays and be the vocal leader.  What Anderson does best is dish the rock, he can really handle the ball and create offense for others with that handle and his great vision on the break.  He’s a lot of fun to watch when he’s dropping dimes and letting the defense know what just happened in front of them.  I can’t wait to see how this kid develops the rest of his offensive game throughout the rest of his HS career, he’s already a great finisher at the rack, he just needs to add some consistency to that jumper.

6’0 2023 Brandon King: Carolina Storm

King is still two years younger than the majority of his competition and he’s still producing at a high level.  He is to be taken seriously as a prospect that can already pour buckets in at the 15U level despite not being finished with the 7th grade yet.  His craftiness and ability to adjust mid-air in the lane is undeniable, once he develops a true feel for the game look for King to start making noise as a prospect within the AAU season.  He certainly has an awesome foundation to build upon.

6’4 2020 MJ Wilkerson: NC Empire/Southern Durham

Wilkerson is an absolute lighting rod of energy, athleticism, and just general intensity.  His unique skillset is generally fun to watch and attention grabbing due to the way in which he plays.  He’s always talking on both ends making sure his guys are in the right place at the right time.  His athleticism is a game changer for this NC Empire squad giving them a unique versatile player that can play 4 positions at this level while never losing control of the game/time situation.  He’s a true asset for whatever team he plays for due to that versatility and intensity.  Look for Wilkerson to grab attention from a lot of coaches and media throughout the summer.  He’s a tough one to miss.

6’9 2020 Myles Evans: NC Empire/Ravenscroft

This has nothing to do with name bias, Evans can flat out play at a high level and showed an intriguing skillset, possessing the ability to score in a multitude of ways.  Evans was stuck behind Boston University Signee Jack Hemphill at Ravenscroft this past year so his role was limited, but now he’s one of the primary options on a really good NC Empire squad allowing Evans to showcase that growing skillset.  His stoic demeanor throws a lot of people off that might think he’s soft or doesn’t have a high motor, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.  All I see in Evans is a skilled competitor that continues to get more comfortable contributing at a high level.  Look for Evans’ stock to rise throughout the summer and into the High School season at Ravenscroft.
