Day 2 got underway here in Rock Hill, as Northwood Temple and Asheville Christian dueled it out to start the day.  Northwood Temple cam out strong early in the first quarter, getting out to an 11-0 lead early.  But Asheville Christian started to find some rhythm to cut the lead down to four at the end of one.

Both teams continued to battle throughout, as neither were able to create much separation throughout the second quarter and into the third.  It wasn't until later in the third quarter when Northwood Temple was able to start increasing their lead once again and eventually getting it back to double-digits. After creating and holding their separation in the fourth, Northwood Temple was able to hold secure the win to start the season off.  Asheville Christian did start making a late run but it wasn't enough in the end.

Final: Northwood Temple 52 – Asheville Christian 48

Stat Leaders:
Northwood Temple:
– Emmanual Sepulveda 11 points
– Julian Williams 13 points
– Jaquantae Harris 7 points

Asheville Christian:
– Trelin Harper 14 points
– Chris Harris 10 points
– Max Rogers 8 points

Standouts:

2021 Emmanual Sepulveda (Northwood Temple): Sepulveda is a 5'11 guard but played extremely well with his ability to push the pace, score in multiple levels, and really lead the charge and break but also play off the ball.  Really like what he provided on the floor on both ends and plays with tremendous speed on the floor.

2021 Max Rogers (Asheville Christian): Rogers was able to make his mark in several areas of the floor on Day 2.  Like that he showed a nice blend of aggressiveness with the ball in hands but also knock down perimeter shots like he has in the past. He also showcased his ability to set up and find his teammates, rebound, and play with a good IQ on the floor.

2021 Trelin Harper (Asheville Christian): The big man really made an impact down low, using his frame and tough around the rim to score around the rim consistently.  Played strong, rebounded, and got to the free throw line, while leading the team in scoring.

2021 Julian Williams (Northwood Temple): Williams continues to play strong on the floor, scoring well around the rim, using his length to his advantage, and playing bigger than listed. Really like his ability to defend multiple positions and moves well without the ball.
