From an After Thought to a 6’9″ PF That Can Run & Shoot

What a difference a year makes, in the life of 6'8 2016 Keyon Wesley. At this point last year, no one knew who Wesley was. He was going to school at Rocky River High School, in Mint Hill, NC. They came off a severe losing record and the slender Wesley was running under the radar.

In comes new coach Jermaine Walker, and just as Walker took over the program he called Phenom asking us to come by and watch a work out. We stopped by on our Open Gym tour and walked away very impressed with his talent. Walker took this inherited talent to finish 10-2 in the conference.

While the turnaround was not a lone effort for Wesley, he was certainly one of the most intriguing. Wesley grew from a 6'6' skinny undersized four man to a 6'9' guy who can both run and shoot with range. Yes, the sound of that is very intriguing.

This year, Wesley is playing on the Adidas Circuit with Team Loaded North Carolina. He has picked up his first Division 1 offer, from Robert Morris in the Northeast Conference.

As hinted above, Wesley has great size at 6'9' and he wields a 7'1' wing span. He is very slender, tipping the scales around 175 pounds. However, Wesley has touch well beyond the 3-point arc and runs extremely well, end to end. Wesley has also come out to publicly say he is going to go to a prep school after he graduates from Rocky River. Essentially, he will enter college along with the 2017 class.

Wesley will play in the Phenom Summer Jam with his Rocky River High School. The games are set for June 20 at Proehlific Park in Greensboro, North Carolina.
