Jayvion Green 6’3 215 2025 Maury HS (VA) / Norfolk Titans
Jayvion has the touch of a shooting guard and the ability to create his own shot off the dribble while also being an imposing and physically bruising player around the rim. A unique combination of versatility, physicality, and advanced skill you rarely see in a player so young but given his DNA one cannot be surprised.
Jayvion is the son of one of the 757’s most respected basketball figures in Maury High School Head Coach Brandon Plummer who led teams to a state title both as a coach and as a player and who enjoyed success at the collegiate level at both Norfolk State, Virginia State and Wingate University. He led Booker T Washington High School to a state title as a player in 2006 and as a coach in just his second season, led Maury High School to the school’s first-ever state championship in 2019! Coach Plummer was a tireless worker as a player and continues that effort both starting in the local ProAm and while helping develop talent which includes his 6’3 215-pound son Jayvion, or more affectionately known as “Lil Plummer”. Jayvion is an athletic and agile forward who can overpower many defenders and get to the rim or square up and, with fluidity and sound shot mechanics knock down the jumper at a good percentage even from beyond the arc. He is a terror around the rim; he pursues rebounds with relentless effort and fights off contact to score even with bodies hanging all over him. He is strong to be certain and has a great touch both using the glass and scoring with short jumpers. I stood along the baseline and you can just feel the freight train like aggression as he attacks the basket. I was also impressed with the quick burst he generates attacking space! Catching the ball at the high post or beyond he uses quick rips and rangy, powerful strides attacking the rim. He stays low and pushes the ball out nicely and really covers a lot of ground with his long strides.
Jayvion can also spot a cutter and deliver a timely and accurate pass and shows potential as a secondary facilitator. He is tasked with being a scorer right now and he can certainly do that. In addition to his powerful, basket attacking drives Jayvion can also hit the pull up jumper at a very good rate. The smoothness of his jumper, repeatable and sound mechanics and disciplined footwork is a testament to the work he has put into making himself an all-around threat. Jayvion can post you up and score with the drop step or front pivot and hit the jumper. He uses shot fakes and jabs effectively and knows how to initiate contact and score. As his powerfully built frame continues to mature you can see more and more mobility which will allow him to bring more versatility on the defensive end.
Jayvion can guard both forwards at the high school level as he demonstrates adequate lateral mobility but he’s so strong and uses his length nicely defending the dribble. Jayvion is a powerful leaper allowing him to rebound at a very good rate and he gets off the floor for second and third jumps with impressive quickness. He is an exciting up and comer who has the physical and mental toughness to endure the rigors of contributing at the high school level as a freshman and as his development continues the potential is tremendous! He also has the benefit of playing for his father who instills in him that same tireless work ethic, attention to detail and humility that made Brandon a success both as a player and a coach. Jayvion is a must-see prospect with an exciting future ahead of him.
