Paul Jones 6’1 140 2024 Nansemond River High School, Suffolk VA

Paul catches your eye with his long legs and wingspan and keeps your attention once you watch him bury jumper after jumper with an effortless stroke and from well beyond the three-point arc. His excellent elevation and high, nearly unblockable release makes him appear much taller than 6’1 and his frame certainly suggests a lot more vertical growth in his near future. He can light it up from deep on catch and shoot jumpers and remains very efficient a shot-maker off the dribble. Paul uses between the legs dribbles, crossovers, and inside outs and shows a nice surge off a dribble move as he attacks space. He is very comfortable and lethal when pulling up off the dribble as he elevates nicely, demonstrates sound mechanics, and is oh so smooth on dribble pull-ups.

Paul is slippery attacking the rim, not overly quick but fast and when you combine his creative handle, nice use of change of pace, and his length he can get up on you in a hurry. Shows some creativity finishing at the rim and can finish with either hand. His length allows him to stretch out for picturesque finishes and he has a great touch off the glass and on floaters. Paul uses his length and sound footwork and does a good job defending the dribble. Gets into passing lanes showing anticipation skills and he also rebounds the basketball well for a guard. Paul has so much potential and a frame that has basketball player written all over him and I am excited as to what lies ahead for him. He’s going to be very, very good! Deep Creek High School Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach and former Nansemond River High School Head JV and Varsity Assistant Coach Craig Frost was Paul’s coach the last couple of seasons and offered these comments. “ “Paul has SCARY POTENTIAL.

I am amazed by his shooting and ball handling. Paul possesses the ability to shoot the ball off the dribble or spot up for knock-down opportunities. He rebounds great for a guard and he starts the break effortlessly. His ability to finish with both hands in the lane is a great asset. He loves the game and works hard ON HIS OWN. Paul is going to be a factor for years to come.”
