Jovan Butler 6'2'160 2024'Denbigh High School, Newport News VA / Boo Williams'

It's really been fun watching Jovan's game mature over the past several months as he has made great strides transitioning from a very good spot-up shooter to a productive and versatile scorer. 'Jovan has one of the purest shooting strokes in the area and can knock down shots at an impressive rate from beyond the arc on catch and shoot opportunities and has become very good using dribble pull-ups, scoring in the mid-range areas, and at the rim. 'He has an intriguing basketball frame that features long arms and legs and he takes advantage of his length not only with the jumper but on drives to the rim where he incorporates lengthy strides and good quickness to attack off the dribble. 'He has demonstrated solid finishing skills around the rim using a long wingspan and a great touch off the glass and with runners. 'Also shows great body control and fearlessness at the rim. 'An instinctive scorer who has learned to harness his length and has recently begun to assert himself as he has seemed to realize his potential to be a multi-level and productive high school scorer. '

What first captured my attention in addition to his length was his fluid shooting stroke and how well he moved without the ball. 'How well he used screens and floated to open areas instinctively, his footwork and the consistency with which he knocked down the jump shot from different areas on the floor. 'Jovan has obviously been coached up well! 'In recent weeks I've seen him display a full arsenal of scoring moves and apparent newfound confidence in his ability to score from anywhere on the floor at any time. 'At the recent Big Shots Mid Atlantic Mecca event at Boo Williams, he finished as one of the top scorers in his grade classification averaging over 16 ppg doing it with the jumper and with fearless and slippery drives to the rim and getting to the free-throw line. '

On the defensive end, he brings consistent effort, moves his feet nicely, and has very good lateral movement. 'Jovan has tons of upside and I'm expecting he will have a solid high school career and should establish himself as one of the 757's better scorers. 'He comes from basketball roots which explain his impressive skill level. 'Jovan's Dad by the same name played his basketball at Bethel High School in Hampton VA and is a very supportive presence at his games. 'Keep that name in your memory banks because Jovan Butler is one of the top up and comers in the 757 and should be an immediate impact high school guard. '
