Stacy Byrd 6'6 197 2023 The Carmel School (VA) / BWSL Team Marsh AAU

Stacy is a warrior in the paint! A long and active big man whose 6'6+ frame, quickness, and energy makes for an imposing figure around the rim. He is a rangy and athletic forward who has excellent timing for rebounds and blocked shots and plays with great energy and a relentless motor. He is quick enough to help and still recover to not only guard his man but also swat shots and snag rebounds outside his area routinely.

Stacy has surprisingly nimble footwork for a young man at his size and that allows him to guard the dribble inside 15-18 feet and he shows good defensive mechanics. Not terribly explosive leaping ability but he does have a good bounce and gets off his feet quickly. He rebounds the basketball high and does a nice job keeping the ball high to protect it from busy hands. Stacy shows potential on the perimeter as he can knock down spot-ups beyond the arc at a respectable rate and is a threat off the dribble. He has good mechanics and a fluid release. A good enough shot maker both beyond the arc and in the middle to force defenders to have to get out and contest. He attacks off the dribble like a freight train uses rangy, powerful strides, and is a good finisher. Stacy does a good job passing and avoiding traps both on the drive and when receiving a pass in and around the paint. His developing offensive game shows a lot of promise and versatility which would make for an attractive college prospect given his defensive impact. He runs the floor nicely showing speed and agility. His footwork in the paint is solid, shows a good touch off the glass when necessary to use the glass and from different angles. Can finish above the rim and finishes offensive stick backs at a very good rate. Fearless finisher will dunk on you. Strong transition finisher!

Stacy is in great hands-training under former Old Dominion University star Ricardo Marsh who had a lengthy pro career and was a big-time scorer and in fact, led the Israel Premier League in scoring in 2007 and was a Turkish League All Star in 2008! He also trains under and plays for former Georgetown star and NBAer Robert Churchwell. A pair of talented forwards who had success at the highest levels! Stacy is a hard-working, high-character young man, likable and outgoing. I expect he will soon be mentioned among the state’s better front-court prospects. College coaches should take note!
