We can say it now… Cape Fear Christian Academy is going to be a program you will want to watch and keep track of in North Carolina in the 1A Division.  They have talent and a winning pedigree, led by their coaching staff.  Phenom Hoops got a chance to watch them at the Holiday Classic recently and we saw several players of interest.

One of those guys was 2022 6’8 Jabare Perry.

He plays a key part for this team, bringing an interior presence with his strong, mobile frame that absorbs contact, makes plays for himself and others in the paint, and be a difference-maker on the boards and as a rim protector.

When you ask Perry about his game, he loves to bring a positive mindset on the floor but also one that is willing to do what is needed for the team.  He also continues to work hard to improve in certain areas on the court.

“A three-level scorer,” Perry said about his game. “My main mindset is to win and always rebound and defend for my teammates. I do whatever it takes to win to get the job done. When I do those two things, then the points come along the way. The areas that I’ve been able to accomplish with my game is shooting, rebounding, defense, and tough finishes around the basket. But the things I’m looking to improve more on is dribbling and flashing to the open areas on the offensive side.”

The strong feel, mobility, and his ability to make an impact on both ends are catching a few eyes as far as interest. Perry doesn’t hold any offers quite yet but schools like Tulsa, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Mars Hill have reached out.

“Coach Frank from Tulsa keeps me updated with the team and schools almost every day,” he told Phenom.  “Coach Williams from Xavier University of Louisiana is building a relationship with me but we are texting each other on a daily.  Mars Hill has been talking to me for a while now but we still check up on each other from day to day.”

Even though Perry may not be a big name right now, he certainly looks to be another sneaky prospect down in the Fayetteville area and one to watch more of.
