Airon Jones 6'3 165 2022 Mount Vernon High School, Alexandria VA

Airon demonstrates a very good mix of playmaking, shooting, and scoring skills. A skillful and willing passer he shows good leadership and decision making with the ball in his hands both in transition and in half-court settings. Great vision coupled with the ability to create and get dribble penetration where he is a threat to not only find cutters and deliver timely passes but also use creativity when attacking the rim and finishes at different angles.

Airon's strength is his shot-making skills both on catch and shoot opportunities as well as off the dribble. A very good three-point shooter his mechanics and footwork are sound and he doesn't need much time or space to get his shot off. Airon can also handle and shoot off the bounce at a good percentage and shows good shiftiness off the dribble. He uses hesitations nicely and rangy strides to attack off the dribble and with his ability to stop on a dime and quickly launch into the jumper he makes for a challenging defensive assignment. Airon has good length at 6'3 and still growing. He was 5'8 in the summer of 2019 so in little more than a year he grew 7 inches and is still growing! He plays AAU for Team Push 757 16U where he is coached by his uncle Brian Crawley who was a multi-sport star at Petersburg High School before opting to play baseball at Elizabeth City State University despite basketball offers from various colleges.

Airon's cousin is Dinwiddie High School star and two-time All-Region selection Branden Pulley. Airon is off to a solid start to the 2020-21 season averaging just under 20ppg, 3 apg. He should establish himself as a prospect both as a lead or scoring guard and I expect his stock will continue to soar as his high school career progresses.
