Player: Lovell Smith
Class: 2021
School: Winston Salem Christian PG
Height: 6’4

Season (so far): Lovell is having an absolutely terrific season at Winston-Salem Christian, averaging more than 20 points per game, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists, as the combo guard brings a unique game to the floor.

What He Brings:

When we have been able to watch Smith in action, he seemingly always has impressed and just continues to elevate his level of play.  But what can be said his game is that the combo guard knows how to fill up the boxscore, especially with his scoring ability.  Each time we have seen him, he displays his ability to get downhill effectively and finish but also catch opponents off-guard with his ability to pull-up with his mid-range or from three.  He brings a ton of confidence and plays with it as well.  Though he knows how to score the ball effectively and brings a great motor, he also can and has shown that he can make an impact in other areas like on the boards and finding ways to get the ball to his teammates in the right places.

“I think my game as a combo guard is to score but I can pass at a very high level, especially when the defense starts to onlny think about me, that allows me to give really good passes to the bigs down low, especially when I drive to the basket. But I feel like I acn shoot the ball at a high rate, whether it is from three or pull-up mid-range and get to the basket any time I want to and finish around the rim in a lot of different ways.”

It is kind of crazy to think that he has yet to earn an offer but that may just come with time.  But as of right now, Smith h as been earning interest from schools like Mount St. Mary’s, South Carolina State, Dartmouth, North Carolina A&T, Southern, Lincoln Memorial, Lander, North Georgia, Mount Olive, Belmont Abbey, and Virginia State.

What Has Been Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Smith has good size at 6’3 and is a sneaky athlete on the court.  He showcased that on multiple occasions, whether it was closing out on defenders or bringing that same sneaky power at the rim.” – Phenom Open Gym

“Smith is one to keep an eye with this program. Strong combo guard, he really displayed his full arsenal in how he can score the ball.  He shot the ball well, scored inside and out, and played with a tremendous feel.” – Phenom Halloween Havoc
