Christian Moore 6’2 175 2021 Cape Henry Collegiate School, Virginia Beach VA
Christian will be one of the area’s top recruiting targets as he enters his third season as the starting floor general for Cape Henry Collegiate. The Dolphins are 44–11 overall and 20-0 in the TCIS over the last two seasons with Christian as the team’s starting point guard! An elite athlete, quick, crafty and strong, Christian mixes ball handling wizardry that allows him to get to the rim at will with tremendous shot-making prowess, high IQ and an unteachable feel that is best demonstrated in his ability to run a team, get teammates involved and his high-level passing skills. His ability to stop on a dime, change directions and then explode with great quickness makes him so difficult to stay in front of. Mix in great upper body strength and a powerful frame and you have a dominant playmaker.
Christian uses every dribble move you can imagine; crossovers, inside outs, hesitations, between the legs, behind the back, the whole array and he can perform them effortlessly as he staggers defenders with a low and tight handle, starts and stops, change of direction and hesitations that keep your head spinning. All the while his eyes are up looking to make a pass to a cutter or kick out to a shooter after collapsing the defense. He can blow by a defender at the blink of an eye off either of his vast array of dribble moves and with equal effectiveness going right or left and he can pass and shoot off a breakdown dribble move. He is the quintessential floor general, a leader, a strong playmaker and scorer, and a relentless defender. Christian is quick off the bounce, his handles and footwork are advanced, has great body control. He controls the pace of the game, knows when to attack, and always keeps pressure on the defense. He is a versatile shooter with very good consistency both on spot-ups, off movement and off screens.
Christian has volleyball line range and a super quick release. He’s very good pulling up off the dribble and using the floater and displays a great touch. His shot mechanics are sound and he is a threat from anywhere on the floor. He doesn’t hunt shots preferring instead to take what the defense gives him and keep teammates involved but make no mistake; he can take over a game and put points on the board in a hurry! A crafty and aggressive finisher he absorbs contact nicely and uses the glass effectively from various angles. Perhaps the most complete offensive player in the 757! On the defensive end, Christian’s combinations of quickness and lateral mobility and upper body strength is key in his ability to shut down dribble penetration and render opposing ball handlers ineffective. He can flat out take the ball away from you! Off the ball, he shows great anticipation and quickness in passing lanes. He has quick hands, really competes on the defensive end. Plays with a chip and prides himself in shutting down his opponent.
Christian brings tremendous poise, confidence, and a relentless motor. He has all the intangibles; heart, work ethic, determination, passion, and leadership coaches are looking for in their floor general. Christian has amassed an impressive resume both in the classroom and on the basketball court. He carries a 3.65 GPA taking courses such as Honors Chemistry, AP Biology, and Pre Calculus. Teachers and administrators praise his work ethic and leadership within the school community. He is a two-year team captain and has scored 1172 points with still a season to go! During his junior campaign, Christian averaged 17.5 points per game, 6.5apg, 5rpg, and 2.5 steals per contest showing his impact in every facet of the game. He is a two time All TCIS First Team Selection and also earned All-State honors last season in the highly competitive VISAA joining the likes of Duke bound Jeremy Roach and Henry Coleman in a talent-laden league. Christian was also the TCIS Conference Tournament MVP a year ago and is a two time All Tidewater pick. He also comes from a background of highly successful student-athletes! Christian’s oldest brother Ashton Moore, who starred at Suffolk, VA’s Nansemond River High School where Christian’s high school career began, was a record-setting guard at the Citadel earning several conference awards before embarking on a pro career overseas. His middle brother Kyle, played Division 1 baseball at Indiana State University establishing himself as one of the top players in the Missouri Valley Conference before graduating in 2017. Both his father Robert, who has also coached basketball at the high school level and his Mother Marisol hold multiple college degrees.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a prospect with Christian’s resume on and off the court and such a highly distinguished support system of student-athletes within his family. He will be the main or certainly one of the top attractions for college coaches on the recruiting trails in Virginia this upcoming season.
