Today’s 5 To Know
Vantage Hoops Classic
By Jamie Shaw

5’10” Junior Pinky Wiley
Lloyd C. Bird (VA)

Leader. Pit Bull. Paint getter. Wiley did a great job of getting things done for his team. In Lloyd C. Bird’s win over IC Norcom, Wiley was the best player on the floor. The sturdy point guard is able to get into the paint at will and defended for 94 feet. He carries offers from James Madison and Longwood, expect more to come.
Wiley finished with 19 boards, 4 boards, & 5 assists.

6’6” Junior Mike Barfield Owens
Princess Anne (VA)

Barfield Owens is a warrior. His motor runs hot throughout the game, and produces as a mismatch. Offensively, he is able to attack offensively from multiple angles and areas on the court. Defensively, he was an active rebounder, able to push the break with control and great pace. He has an offer from West Virginia Wesleyan, but Barfield Owens is a Division 1 player who should see his recruitment pick up this summer.
Barfield Owens finished with 30 points and 9 boards.

6’5” Junior Shonari Street
Battlefield (VA)

This was our first viewing of Street and we came away impressed. Street has great size and a solid skill set in catch and shoot situations, where he showed the ability to connect from range. We’re eager to see more of Street, his production and frame intrigue.
Street finished with 21 points (7-11 FG) and 12 boards

6’5” Senior Amp Williams
Meadowbrook (VA)

Amp had a great July averaging over 25 points per game through two Phenom events. He has parlayed that ability into the season. The lengthy wing, showed some ability on the ball in the half court and made a living getting to the line. Williams has great length and a smooth strong, with aggression getting downhill. It looks like Amp will have to go the JUCO route, where he should get heavy interest soon.
Amp finished with a game high 26 points.

6’1 Senior Daryus Evans
Landstown (VA)

Evans had to step up this year for his team, as he is considered the senior year. Known for his ability to shoot the ball, Evans used his long arms and quick feet to be a very good perimeter defender. Evans also shot the ball very well, with nice touch and a quick (squared up) trigger. D2s should look into him.
Evans finished with 17 points (7-11 FG) and 2 steals.

One For Good Measure
6’2” Senior Deonte Jones (Fayetteville St)
Hopewell (VA)

Jones recently committed to Fayetteville St. The confident shooter should have a very good career there. In this game, he showed the ability as a 3-level scorer, especially excelling from 15 feet to 23 feet.
Jones finished with 23 points and 12 boards.
