What Has Been Said by Phenom:

“Baker continues to be a name that pops up event after event with Phenom Hoops.  This is a very young but talented guard that should be mentioned with some of the best in the state of North Carolina for his class.  He consistently showed his ability to score the ball effectively and lead his team in scoring, which shouldn’t be a surprise because he is just continuing to show what he did all high school season when he averaged nearly 17 points per game.  The 6’0 guard is really making a statement early on in his career and continues to play consistent basketball.”

“Shamel Baker has impressed me time and time again. I believe that he has the ability to impact the game at a high enough level to start for a number of varsity programs as we speak. The consistent scoring guard makes it a purpose to lead in every game he plays in, regardless of the scoring output. Luckily, that output is usually amongst the best.”

Game Breakdown:

Baker continues to be a name that resonates here in North Carolina with his production, as he is putting up strong numbers once again.  He continues to be one of the clear go-to leaders for East Carteret, simply finding ways to score the ball. Though he can knock down shots from outside, he is at his best when he is creating and attacking, as he plays hard and scrappy, finds ways to get to the free-throw line consistently, and gets into the paint and finishes well. Baker consistently brings production with his scoring output, attacking downhill, showing bounce in his game, and is useful out in transition as well; that doesn’t mention his vision and impact defensively.
