Faison has been a name thrown around North Carolina for a few years now, as Phenom Hoops has been given the opportunity to see him operate in multiple settings, whether high school events or during the summer.  Each time, he has been able to show that he can be a vital piece on the floor.  Faison is a type of player that coaches like to have in their locker room, motivating others but also showing that he knows how to operate with the ball in his hands.

We wrote about Faison back at our Western North Carolina 150 camp, where we had this to say in his evaluation.

'Next, we look at a player that made a strong impression as one of the best teammates and all-around performers from camp, Ray Faison. He's a smart, unselfish, high-motor guard that does a strong amount of everything while being a leader on both ends of the floor. Faison scores the ball efficiently from all three levels and has the necessary athleticism to play well above the rim. He possesses great quickness, which allows him to relentlessly enter the paint and attack the basket or make plays for open teammates. Faison is a great defender that rebounds his position extremely well and pushes the break ahead at every available opportunity. Next in his development process is working on his ability to shoot off the dribble, as it would make him an even more lethal offensive threat. Coach Wilson on Faison: 'Ray is a strong combo guard who can play either backcourt position very well. He's a really good defender that rebounds well. Ray had a great attitude and team-first mentality throughout camp.' Faison continues to quietly be one of the most underrated players in the area and looks poised for a very productive upcoming season.'

Now, to start the season at University Prep Academy, Faison is producing once again, averaging early on 22.3 points, 4.3 assists, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game, really impacting the floor on both sides.  He has shown the ability to be a threat from the perimeter, knocking down 55 percent of his 3-pointers, but also putting it on the deck and attacking.  He also can make an impact outside of scoring, getting on the boards, finding his teammates, and stepping up and creating havoc on defense.  It is why it will be interesting to see what Faison is able to show throughout the season and if his recruitment starts picking up.
