Phenom Opening Session 1

NE Guilford HS, Court 3

Mid-day Games Standouts

The calendar has flipped to April so that means AAU ball is in full effect. Teams and talent converged on Greensboro this weekend in an effort to hone their skills and get some exposure heading into the live period in a few weeks. As always, several players showed out. Some of the names to know from the morning session here on court 3 at NE Guilford HS are as follows:

Treylan Warren, 6’2 2019 G with Durham Hurricanes 2019 – Kid has been one of the more overlooked talents in NC the last few years. Does it all with a motor that’s out of this world. He fills up a box score, plays defense, and is unselfish in his game. All this and he plays the game humble. Nothing here not to like if you are looking for a prospect in the 2019 class.

Xavier Howard, 6’5 2019 F with Durham Hurricanes 2019 – Saw him in 8th grade and knew he was going to be a player. Fast forward a few years and we find him ballin like we thought he would. Great strength to be had here and that allows him to get what he wants on the floor. A strong rebounder with good hands but his ability to create for others sets him apart. Kid is a double/double waiting to happen. Look for a big summer from this baby bull of a player.

Miles Taylor, 6’2 2020 F with Team Invasion – Got to see this young man play twice so far and each time he gave us a hard hat performance. He made the plays he was supposed to, was efficient with his touches, and put in solid work on the glass. Not a huge ceiling guy here but is the type of player a HS coach would love to have out on the floor.

MJ Maye, 5’2 2022 G with Team Winston 14U – One of the younger players in this even but showed he can ball. Really nice handles on this kid to go with plus speed and a feel for the game beyond his years. Got into the lane with ease. Lack of height is a drawback but is quick and skilled enough to make up the difference. As he goes up the tape measure expect more to take notice of his talent.

Jimmy Britt, 6’1 2022 F with Team Winston 14U – Young big has a very soft touch to him on the offensive end. Showed comfort stepping out beyond the arch while also proving capable of putting it on the floor and going to the hole. Has the feel of a player that will eventually make it out to the wing in the future but will need to develop his handles and get quicker before then.

Jordan Atkinson, 5’10 2019 G with Wilson Elite 17U – Stocky guard can get hot from deep and kill you when given a window. His coach calls him “April Jordan” as he always has a big April before baseball season bleeds over (big time baseball guy per coach). Kid is fearless, strong, and knows how to compete. This is the type of kid you want on your team.
