Providence Day and head coach Brian Field gears up for another year of basketball in Charlotte, as Phenom Hoop Report hit the road and sat on yet another open gym. After a season in which the Chargers finished 13-16 overall and 4-6 in conference play, they look to bounce back and compete for a conference championship.
Getting a first-hand look at the roster this upcoming season, here are some of the players to keep an eye on this season for the Chargers.
2021 5’10 G Cyncier Harrison
Harrison is the lead point guard for the Chargers once again, as the skilled point guard brings vision, skill, handles, and scoring capabilities to the table. Whether it is with or without the ball, he knows how to bring a positive effect to the team. Harrison is a very good spot-up shooter but is that guard that can see the floor well, unselfish when pushing the tempo, and can create for himself. He will be one of the leading scorers for this team but gets it done on both ends.
2022 6’4 Michael Zanoni
Receiving interest from schools already, Zanoni brings versatility as a wing prospect but will play a big role down low this season as well for the Chargers with the lack of size. He is fundamentally sound and can create mismatches with his ability to score on all three levels, especially on top with his jumper. Zanoni is a high IQ type player and runs the floor very as well.
2022 6’2 Bryce Scott
The physical, strong finishing sophomore will be another go-to prospect and with his athleticism and strength to finish, along with explosion, he will be a force for the Chargers. Scott’s ability to shoot the outside shot when left open but also get to the rim and finish will be a nice compliment to Harrison and company.
2020 6’0 AJ Ratchford
Ratchford is a sound guard and good role player for the Chargers. He does a little bit of everything on the court, on both sides of the ball. He is a sound defender, a solid ballhandler, and can get to the rim as well as brings positive effort to the table.
2020 John Miralia (NC State baseball commit), 2020 Luke Brighton, 2023 Kahmani Wertz, and others will provide depth for this team as well.
