Phenom Hoops has been hitting the road, checking in on open gyms, open practices, and fall leagues to get a glimpse of teams this upcoming season. We went out to Spartanburg for the Fall League, getting a chance to watch players from Gaston Day compete.

After finishing 10-16 last year and 4-8 in the league, the Spartans are looking to take another step as a program.  They had some strong wins last year but hope to eclipse the .500 mark this season.  Let's take a look at what the Spartans will be working with this year.

2023 Callum Richard: Richard has grown and developed even more since last year, as the big man seems to continue to develop his overall feel for the game along with his ability.  Richard brings great size and one that will man the paint.  He has good touch at the rim, keeps the ball high, and gets on the boards, while also making an impact defensively in blocking shots.

2022 Chris Britt: Tough, lead point guard with tremendous speed and is relentless in how he attacks. With his size, he shows that he can score in multiple ways, knocking down jumpers but also scoring in transition well. He will be one of the lead contributors to this program.

Gaston Day will have several others that will look to contribute, whether it is making their mark on the defensive end, knocking down perimeter shots, or being a play-maker for their teammates.  2021 Dean Hunter will look to play a nice role in helping initiate the offense but also getting to his spots.  Then you have players like 2021 Zach Clark who will help contribute in the scoring column as well.

You also have some other young prospects like 2023 Colin Fayed and 2022 Jackson Crump help in multiple ways on the floor.

Richard though will be the main focal once again, but this is a team that has several guards that can contribute in multiple ways, along with a few guards that can create for themselves.
