We continued into the afternoon, as we had two big-time teams meet up in Charlotte. The Burlington School and NC Good Better Best matched up on the floor with both teams bringing some terrific talent with them. The Burlington School came out strong and made a quick statement on both ends, as they started off the game with a 13-0 run before finding themselves up 16-5 at the end of the first quarter.
NC GBB started to find some more success offensively but it wasn’t enough to cut into the lead, as The Burlington School still found themselves up by double-digits at halftime. NC GBB came out stronger on both ends and with more energy, with Willie Lightfoot and company finding more scoring opportunities but also getting after it defensively. That ultimately helped NC GBB start chipping away at the lead into single digits in the third quarter. But every time NC GBB made a move, The Burlington School had an answer.
In the fourth quarter and with the game within eight points, The Burlington School looked to make one more run late to put this game away. TBS was able to capitalize from the free-throw line and finish strong, expanding their lead back to double-digits and eventually sealing this win between two very good teams.
