Legion came out strong early in the first half, quickly stretching their lead to 17-4 after the first quarter.  But Winston-Salem Christian Regional did a good job at chipping away at Legion's lead and keeping it within single digits at halftime, 30-21.

In the third quarter, the teams really seemed to trade baskets back and forth, as neither team was able to create a bigger cushion or cut into the lead, as they went into the fourth quarter.  Legion as leading by 6+ points late in the game but Winston-Salem picked up the tempo, got more aggressive on both ends, and ended up sending this game into overtime, where it went back and forth.

Late in overtime tied at 61, that is when Legion's Marcus Kell hit a BIG three with seconds remaining.  W-S Christian Regional had a chance to tie it though but a costly turnover hurt them in the end, as Legion took home the hard-fought 66-61 victory.

Standouts:

2024 6'5 Lewis Walker (W-S Christian): Walker was the best player on the court for WS Christian and the young man really impressed with his play.' He was relentless in staying aggressive, as the strong big displayed his ability to put the ball on the floor and attack, embracing contact and finishing or getting to the line. He did it consistently all game long.

2022 6'3 Shane Blakeney (Legion) Blakeney is a long point guard that plays with a good balance of being able to create and initiate the offense but also can knock down shots from multiple levels with a smooth release.  Played under control and with a nice pace to the game.

2022 6'7 Marcus Kell (Legion): Kell really stepped up big in the second half and in overtime, scoring well on multiple levels and showing that he can be a flat-out scorer with size.  Moved well without the ball to create opportunities and then stepped up big in overtime from behind the arc.

2021 5'11 Arrington Jones (W-S Christian): Really liked what Jones did for his team, staying aggressive, attacking downhill, and just bringing a terrific motor on both ends.  He really left it out on the floor, scoring 14 of his 18 points in the second half and helping his team force an OT.
