Day 2 of the Phenom New Year's Bash got underway, as fans were able to enjoy a little basketball before enjoying the New Year's holiday. Continuing an exciting day, two teams that competed on Day 1 were back in action and squaring off, as Northside Christian and Hickory Ridge took the floor.
Hickory Ridge came out strong behind its leader in 2024 Miles Beard, who went for 10 first-quarter points to lead his team. His play, along with getting to the line overall, Hickory Ridge was able secure a 22-13 first-quarter lead. In the second quarter though, Northside Christian flipped the switch, holding Hickory Ridge to only seven points and really finding their offense on the other end. It is what helped turned a nine-point deficit into a 14-point halftime lead 43-29.
That trend continued in the third quarter, as Northside Christian was able to expand its lead even more and really showcase their ability to flip the switch. They were aggressive and did a great job in getting everyone involved, as they built their lead to 71-46 at the end of the third. They would maintain that lead and get players off the bench into the action, as Northside Christian would walk away with the 87-58 victory.
