Phenom Hoops was back in Charlotte for the Phenom New Year’s Bash, bringing some terrific talent from around the area on both the girls’ and boys’ side. Going into the last game of what was a great day of basketball, Weddington traveled to Chambers in a terrific rematch from last season.

Senior Nick Dorn came out red hot in the first half, showing his ability to be a big-time scoring weapon on the floor with his ability to score from all levels and use his size to his advantage.  His 15 points helped his team get out to a strong start, eventually leading double digits at half.  Weddington did have strong moments early on and stayed within striking distance with their ability to knock down shots.  Chambers was able to hold a 30-20 halftime lead.

In the second half, Weddington came out strong and looked to punch back early on and they were able to do so a little, once again knocking down shots from a variety of levels.  But Chambers was able to maintain a small lead and eventually build their lead back up to 13 points at the end of the third quarter. Chambers continued to expand its lead in the fourth, eventually getting it to 20 points and they never looked back, securing an impressive win on their home floor.
