Wednesday night, we went out to the Charlotte area to check out some of the younger talent that will be on display this summer with Phenom Hoops. Charlotte Royals 2024 is a young and developing group but also one that has some names you will want to watch and remember for down the road. Let's dive into the roster.
2024 Jalen Pelzer
Pelzer is a point guard on the floor who is skilled with the ball, along with his craftiness and quickness. He is strong with his left or right, which helps him attack defenses in multiple ways. He continues to learn more of being a vocal leader on the court.
2024 Malik Thompson
A North Meck product, Thompson really brings defense to the table on the floor. He is quick and reacts well on both sides of the floor. Quick-twitch type of prospect but an effective defender.
2024 Chris Tucker
The 5'10 guard brings good energy and is high defender. He also shows good athleticism and can hit the open shot.
2024 Kolin Harris
Another guard that is a defensive specialist. He is a strong and quick guard on the court as he continues to develop his overall offensive game.
2024 Ryan Lewis
He is one of the go-to players for this team, really showing that he can be an effective scorer from multiple levels. He has good size at 6'1, has a high IQ, and really understands how to be a playmaker on the court. In his first tournament, he averaged 25 points per game, so make sure you put his name down to watch.
2024 Brenden Ridge
This is a 5'11, high IQ guard that actually also plays wide receiver on the football field. He has a long, lengthy frame and does a little bit of everything on the court. He continues to put on strength.
2024 Dominique Downs
Downs is an intriguing prospect with his 6'2 frame. He does a little bit of everything on the court, as he can battle down low, step out and operate offensively, and get on the boards as well. He can really help in many areas.
2024 Gary Harris
He is a smaller guard but one that shows and displays some early skill. He has a chance to really grow into his frame, something to certainly watch. He has long arms, good jumper, and is a vocal player. Just makes plays.
2025 Troy Griffin
He is the youngest prospect on the team and is still raw in areas on the court. He is a stat stuffer that brings a ton of energy on the court and just helps his team in making plays on the court.
2024 Amari Richardson
He is a high IQ guard that excels as a combo guard; one that plays with a great pace and tempo in initiating the offense but also can score the ball effectively in multiple areas. Richardson is a strong guard that has a tremendous feel early on.
2024 Jack Weckerle
Weckerle brings the size this team needs and he is a young big to really watch. He is fundamentally sound, has tremendous hands and feel, and also good touch around the rim. With his size and skill, he is one to watch as he gets stronger on the court.
2024 Walter Durham III
Durham is a football prospect, but on the court, he brings the bruising type prospect that uses his body well to bully defenders and scores around the rim.
