Second game of Day 1, we went to the boy’s side as Hickory Ridge and Covenant Day went at it in Mooresville. It was Hickory Ridge that delivered the first punch, jumping out quickly to get a double-digit lead after the first quarter. They were able to get it done on both ends, really bringing a ton of energy on the defensive side to create havoc, and also had shots fall offensively. After the first quarter, it was Hickory Ridge leading 22-11.

Covenant Day started to get things going and make plays in the second half to keep in striking distance but they weren't able to cut into the lead by halftime, as Hickory Ridge led by 12, 31-19. Miles Beard led the charge early in the first half with 11 points for Hickory Ridge, while Elijah Green led Covenant Day with 7 points.

In the second half, it was Hickory Ridge that delivered another punch to increase their lead even more by the end of the third quarter. Beard continued to attack and be an effective scorer, as Hickory Ridge led 48-30. In the fourth quarter, the deficit was just too big for Covenant Day to overcome, as Hickory Ridge continue to find success on both sides of the floor. Covenant Day continued to battle through the end, but in the end, Hickory Ridge secured the impressive 73-46.
