Teams: Cox Mill, Westchester, North Raleigh Christian, Carmel Christian, Mount Tabor

Cox Mill 51 vs Westchester 51

Cox Mill

  • Wendell Moore – 2019 – came in as one of the best players in his class and he had college coaches from all over watching him in the first game. He has elite size, a great frame, and can do so much for a team. Whether it is passing the ball, scoring the ball, or rebounding, Moore can do it all. No wonder he is ranked early on as one of the best in his class
  • Messiah Baptiste – 2016 – crafty guard that was solid all around. Handled the ball well and already plays the part as a true leader at the guard position. Always looking for the open player while finding ways to finish at the rim or knock down outside shots. He finished with 16 points

Westchester

  • Marshall Lange – 2016 – This young man would be a Division II or Division III steal. He was an offensive show today against elite talent. He knocked down shots, had great vision on the court, and was a do it all kind of prospect. Programs really need to get on this one. Scored 19 points.
  • Caymen Bennett – 2016 – lengthy guard that can play several positions for Westchester. Also a lock down defender. Really liked his overall game and could be the second go-to guy on the floor, along with Lange.
  • Nick Brown – 2019 – young guard, Brown showed that he could handle the ball and get to the rim. Brown and Bennett were the main two guys after Lange scoring wise.

North Raleigh Christian Academy 43 vs Carmel Christian 37

Carmel Christian

  • Roland Whitley – 2016 – shot the ball well from beyond the arc against North Raleigh. Did much of his damage along the outside.
  • Brent Swilling – 2018 – length forward that can use his handles to get to the rim. Developing a consistent outside shot would put more pressure on his opponents but he has the intangibles that you just can’t teach. Eager to continue to watch him develop.
  • Myles Pierre – 2019 – solid thick guard that is a defensive hound. He should be a solid guard for Carmel this year and one that could develop into a top tier prospect when his high school career is over. He can also score the ball very well in array of fashions, as he finished the game with 15 points.

North Raleigh Christian Academy

  • Drake Harris – 2016 – vocal leader and main ball handler for North Raleigh, he was able to penetrate and dish for much of the game, while trying to find ways to score. Looks to be the leader of this group and will have to play big for North Raleigh this year.
  • Sam Okauru – 2018 – already at 6’4, this young man can handle the rock. He can also be disruptive on defense with his size and length. Should be the second scoring threat for North Raleigh this year.

Mount Tabor 42 vs Westchester 43

Westchester

  • Marshall Lange – did against what he did in Game 1, knocking down shots and leading his team. This could be his kind of year, as he chipped in 21 points, knocking down four three pointers.
  • Bennett and Brown – were the other two scoring threats for Westchester in Game 2, with Brown scoring 10 points and Bennett chipping in 8. These three should be the go to guys thought the year. Solid defensively as well.

Mount Tabor

  • Austin Gilyard – led the team in scoring with 10 points and scoring in multiple ways.
  • Cameron Robinson – lengthy big sky that passes the eye test. Can play several positions on the floor. Watch out for this young man, as he should be a big part of Mount Tabor this season with his size.
  • Cayse Minor – several people from Phenom Hoops like this young man and might be the go-to guy for this Mount Tabor team. He could be the leading scorer with his size at the guard position but this team has several key players that could lead the team in any game.
