Kyle Honore 5’10 145 2022 Potomac HS, Dumfries VA

Kyle can flat out shoot the basketball and is highly efficient from all levels. Whether spotting up from beyond the arc, coming off a ball screen, or using his combination of physicality and quickness to create off the bounce he has proven himself to be one of the state’s best shooters and scorers. His work off the ball is outstanding using upper body strength and physicality to get separation, he is masterful at using screens and his footwork is sound. Kyle has the quickness to make a dribble move, take a dribble handoff or use a screen and gain separation quickly going downhill or getting an angle and attacking the basket. His first step is strong and quick. He uses a quick rip in either direction but perhaps most effective, in fact, explosive going right and is a highly intelligent playmaker. Demonstrates excellent passing skills and vision, able to play either guard position as he is proficient as both a facilitator and a passer yet so skilled and productive as a scorer.

Kyle is silky smooth and highly efficient on dribble pull-ups and he can continue to the basket and launch a floater over opposing bigs showing a deft touch and converting at an extremely consistent rate! Kyle shot 50% from inside the arc and 49% from three-point range during a stellar sophomore campaign that saw him earn Virginia High School League Class 6A All-State honors. Kyle’s range extends comfortably well beyond the three-point line and he can connect either on catch and shoot jumpers or stepping in off the dribble. He attacks hard closeouts nicely with a quick rip and drive or using the shot fake and a side step dribble and quickly reloading into the jumper or attacking the defense. His stroke is quick and concise. His footwork and body mechanics are sound, his stroke and release disciplined and textbook! He can flat out shoot the basketball! On the defensive end, his combination of physicality, footwork, and quickness makes him a strong on-ball defender. He is instinctive and quick in passing lanes and is also a willing and productive rebounder.

Kyle is the son of long time and highly successful Potomac High School Head Basketball Coach Keith Honore who played collegiately at Bluefield College. Kyle’s older brother Keijon led Potomac High School to the 2014 VHSL Group 5A State Championship and later starred at Virginia Wesleyan College. Look for Kyle, blessed with more height and a physically larger frame than his brother to have a solid high school career that should culminate with college offers as well and should garner attention at the D1 level. He has all the tools for success and of course a family of basketball successes to draw from.
