Kwame Evans, Jr. 6'8'190 2023 Baltimore (MD) Polytechnic Institute/ Team Durant EYBL'

Kwame is a big time athlete with tremendous length at 6'8 and growing and a mammoth 7' wingspan! 'An impressive physical profile coupled with a guard skill set, good speed and bounce and a high IQ! 'He's got all the tools and physical assets and dare I say he looks like a future pro! ' 'I first saw Kwame back in 2018 at a MadeHoops event at Boo Williams Sportsplex and he impressed me with his length and how agile and skilled he was for someone so young and so long. 'Good coordination and nimble-footed which allowed him to make plays from multiple positions on both ends of the floor. 'Having watched him again recently, now a freshman and playing up with Team Durant EYBL 16U, I can't help but be excited about his basketball future given his continued growth physically and fundamentally and his versatile skill set and tireless work ethic. '

Kwame is an ultra-talented and extremely athletic player who can play every position on the floor with impactful results at the high school level. ''He handles the ball well and can lead the offense both in transition and in half-court settings. 'He can hit the jumper at a good rate with three-point range. 'He can post you or beat you off the bounce! 'Kwame uses basic crossovers and plays off hesitations nicely, can get to the rim where he finishes over defenders but also shows great touch and ability to finish even from tough angles. 'He's a very good decision maker and passer and shows amazing comfort operating with the ball in his hands. 'He uses jabs and shot fakes to keep defenders off balance. 'The threat of his jumper forces defenders to play close on the perimeter and Kwame can break defenders down with the crossover and rangy strides that allow him to eat up real estate quickly. 'He has a fluid left-handed stroke and sound shot mechanics complete with a high release allowing him to simply shoot over most defenders. 'He has three-point range and is a catch and shoot threat beyond the arc. '

Kwame shows a great feel,'moves well off the ball, and makes great cuts. 'He is a versatile shooter showing very good and skillful execution in a variety of shooting actions including catch and shoot jumpers, dribble pull-ups, etc, and shows good shot-making consistency from all levels. 'He has excellent hands and sound footwork in his shot preparation and has a quick release. Kwame has plenty of variety in his offensive game and has been coached up nicely. ' Kwame's footwork and mobility were really impressive on the defensive end as he proves capable of defending along the perimeter. 'Establishes good defensive posture, stays engaged, and moves his feet nicely. Despite a skinny frame he competes and fights his way through screens. Has some physicality and toughness. Kwame's length and anticipation skills off the ball make him a threat in passing lanes and he can turn to steal into a thunderous dunk at the blink of an eye as he attacks space with the dribble emphatically and doesn't waste dribbles. 'He is a threat on the glass on both ends of the court and is quick off the floor, even on second and subsequent jumps. '

Kwame is a dynamic shot blocker whose effort defensively is as key as his length. 'More than a shot-blocker he is a versatile rim protector. 'Kwame has the ability to go up vertically with two hands or come out of nowhere showing great timing for blocks. 'He runs the floor exceptionally well, competes! 'Kwame is the son of George Washington University Basketball Hall of Famer Kwame Evans, Sr and the cousin of San Diego State freshman wing Che Evans. '

He has already established himself a high major target and has offers from Georgetown, Virginia Tech, George Washington, Tennessee, Xavier, St. John's, Texas A&M, Auburn, DePaul, and San Diego State and has a lengthy and fast-growing list of interested schools. 'Few players in the 2023 class can impact a game in as many areas as the ultra-talented Kwame Evans, Jr and we can expect he will have plenty of options when the time comes to make a college choice.
