What Was Recently Said: Possibly the most underrated piece within this roster, Elliott is a knockdown perimeter threat who should be more commonly mentioned amongst the top three-point shooters across the state. He’s long, wiry, and tougher than he appears. Elliott possesses legitimate thirty-foot range and knows how to properly utilize it within the flow of the action. He moves well without the ball, understands how to take quality shots, and can heat up in a hurry from distance. Elliott seemingly doesn’t miss off the catch, but is also more than capable of hitting shots within a few dribbles. If he gets off a clean look, it’s probably going in. He should have more action within his recruitment.

(8/4/22):

Despite playing (and producing) on an entire roster of college players, Elliott still doesn’t have the appropriate recruitment. We will say it again: Elliott is firmly in the discussion with the top shooters in the state—and is arguably as accurate as anyone in catch-and-shoot situations. He’s also long, active defensively, and understands how to make proper decisions when attacking closeouts. Elliott is a capable finisher with solid athleticism and an extremely quick release. He doesn’t require the ball to pose a constant threat. Elliott should be recruited similarly to the other premier shooters in North Carolina.

What To Expect:

Although the nightly averages don’t necessarily pop-off the page, Nick Elliott is going to be an extremely useful piece during his senior season and at the next level. He’s a long, wiry wing prospect who doubles as a knockdown shooter with range, toughness, and a pure shooting stroke. Elliott can get going in a hurry and really fill it up from distance. He moves very well without the ball, gets to his spots, and hits jumpers with phenomenal consistency from beyond the arc. That being said, Elliott can also attack closeouts, make the extra pass, and fill in the gaps as needed. The threat of his shooting is so dangerous that it forces opponents to stay attached to his hip at all times, or else he’ll find open space and make the opposition pay. Elliott is the type of player who could be even more valuable open reaching the collegiate ranks, given the difference in spacing, surrounding talent, etc. Between Grimsley’s departed pieces and their general lack of depth, expect Elliott to be very productive during the upcoming season.
