What Has Been Said:
“What’s not to like about potential and upside of this promising young prospect. First of all, Burns gets it done in the classroom as well as the hardwood. He sports an impressive 3.4 GPA and garnished some high praises from HC Frank Hamrick. Coach Hamrick stated, “DJ fills the tank on the defensive end of the floor. He is undoubtedly the best communicator on defense I’ve ever witnessed. In addition, he is one of the best passing big I’ve seen. He was second on our team in assists last year. He sees the floor like a guard.” We too were impressed with his vocal leadership throughout drills, practice, and scrimmage. Burns is a natural leader and while his actions speak loudly, he is a coach’s dream by leading by example. Burns has a soft shooting touch and his game is reminiscence of former NBA great Willis Reed of the NY Knicks.” — Phenom Hoops Open Gym
“Burns was voted MVP of the entire camp. The lefty showed to be a load on the block, with advanced footwork and great touch. Burns’ camp coach Pete Ellis stated, “DJ was the MVP of camp and a great player to coach. I will enjoy watching him on TV.” Burns is being recruited at the highest level, and that should continue.” – South Carolina Top 80
“The lefty has great touch and feel in the post. He is competitive, and talks the entire game (both direction and trash). Welcome to the big stage, it will be fun to watch this one grow.” – Summer Jam 2015
