Somehow kids fly under the radar, while playing in plain sight. So far, during his high school career, 6’3” senior Todd Smith has done just this. However, this year, all of that should change. Smith will play his final year at Word of God, where he is set to take on a featured role.

Smith is a sturdily built guard, who is able to play with the ball in his hands and is strong and athletic enough to play off the ball. Last season, Smith averaged 11 points to go along with 4.5 assists and 3.5 boards per game.

After his participation in the prestigious North Carolina Top 80 we wrote, “It was an outstanding day for Todd Smith! He is a tremendous offensive player on all levels. Todd shot the ball extremely well the entire day and showcased outstanding range. In addition, Todd impressed us with his ability to finish in the lane with contact. Todd has always enjoyed all the physical components to his game. He has a college ready frame and his length, strength and athleticism are all high level. Now, Todd is putting it all together and becoming a “complete PG.” The next step in his development is to maximize his effort off the ball defensively. No one player enhanced his stock at the NC Top 80 more than Todd Smith!”

Heading into his senior year, Smith is ranked as the number 12 player in North Carolina’s 2017 class and he carries an offer from Alcorn State. This year, his recruitment should pick up and grab multiple offers.

After watching Smith play in a recent North Carolina Phenom 150 exposure camp, Coach Alphonso Duncan stated, “Todd is very athletic and shot the ball well today. He is able to get to the basket off the dribble and rise above the rim when he gets there.”

Make sure you see Smith at Phenom’s National Showcase on November 11 and 12 and Phenom’s Joe Miller Invitational on December 27-30.
