J3 Swindell

Phenom Hoops heard about a 38-point performance the other week from a freshman named J3 Swindell at Westchester Country Day.  So of course, we had to hit the road and see what the young man was all about.

The 6'3 prospect that came from Mississippi earlier this year has been producing for the Wildcats this season.  Swindell has been easily averaging around 22 points and double-digit rebounds this season, including his 38-point, 17-rebound performance the other week vs. High Point Christian.

Swindell grew up in Meridian, Mississippi and his father played at Limestone College.  But Swindell has been making a statement early on and should be a prospect to keep an eye on in the state of North Carolina.  The freshman prospect has great size early on at 6'3 and plays with an array of skills to his game.

Swindell showed that he can finish around the rim, rebound the ball well, and step out to knock down the open jumper, including from three.  He also showcased tremendous vision and feel on the floor, something that he may not be recognized for all the time. With a step up in competition, he can continue to work on all areas of his game but there are a few noticeable traits that one can find intriguing.

And one thing is for sure is that Swindell continues to work hard and stay humble. Westchester Country Day head coach David Carrier said that Swindell is very coachable and wants to learn… something that has been a joy to see since he joined the team. Swindell also works out with his father, according to a recent article with Meridian Star (Click Here).

As Swindell continues to develop his overall, his name should start circling the state of North Carolina and could start attracting the attention of others.  As Coach Carrier said, Swindell is one of the top prospects that this program has seen at an early age.
