On November 7th, Phenom Hoop Report will be hosting our third annual High School Jamboree at Proehlific Park in Greensboro, North Carolina. Over 30 teams will be making their way to Tournament Town to showcase their talents to a plethora of scouts, college coaches, and passionate fans. After thorough review of the field, our team decided to put together a little “sneak preview” of individual players and teams that people need to keep a close eye on.
TEAM:
Independence (Charlotte, NC)
HEAD COACH:
Preston Davis
2014-2015 RECORD:
8-16
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Marcus Thomas
A rising senior this year, this young man led the team last year with 14.9 points per game, while doing a little bit of everything on the court. He comes in again as being the leader of this group and should be the leading scorer again this season for Independence.
Victor Tshiona-Aceved
Led the team in rebounding with seven a game last season in short playing time, but this junior could be one to watch this season for the Patriots down low. He is one of several rising juniors that received early playing time last year. He be a key part this season in the paint, as he can create problems on the defensive end and finish at the rim with his frame.
Justyn Hamilton
He certainly will be the big man down low with Victor, as Justyn comes in at 6’9. As mentioned in an earlier preview, Hamilton had a tremendous summer, especially at two Phenom Hoops events, in which he averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks per game. He holds offers from schools such as UNCG, VCU, Charleston, Northwestern State, High Point, and North Florida. Watch out for this young man this season, because you will be hearing more of his name. He is ranked No. 9 by Phenom Hoops in the state of North Carolina for 2017.
OTHER NOTABLE PLAYERS:
