Back at the NC Phenom 150 camp, we got our first glimpse of 2022 6'6 Cade Tyson, the younger brother of Clemson's Hunter Tyson.  With the family genes looking to continue in Cade, the young man certainly made his mark with Phenom Hoops then and there.

This past season though, Tyson continued to impress with his development and game, averaging over 22 points per game at Piedmont high school.  He is hoping to show that same talent this summer if he can but one thing is for sure, he will be a name college coaches will be talking about soon.

Phenom Hoops reached out to Tyson to learn more about this past season, his game, and much more, as he recently announced that he would be heading to Carmel Christian next season.  Check out some of the latest.

At times, it was a tough season at Piedmont as far as securing wins but your team played hard and you were really able to make your mark on the court.  What was your mindset and focus this season as far as your game and development'

Tyson: My mindset was to work as hard as I possibly could and focus on getting better every day. I strive to get the most out of myself every time I step on the court.

You averaged 22 points 8 rebounds and secured 2nd Team All-District.  How proud are you of your accomplishments this season and how do you think your game grew overall'

Tyson: Those accomplishments were great but I know that it wouldn't have been possible without my teammates, Coach Fitts, and mostly God, who I give all the glory too. I feel that I became more confident in my role as a leader. I also believe that developing physically really helped me be successful on both ends of the floor.

What do you think has been the biggest change from last year to where you are now'

Tyson: I feel that the biggest change from last year to this year has been my improvements in strength and confidence.

Where do you think you excel on the court and how do you like to attack opponents'

Tyson: I believe that I am active on both ends of the floor. I have developed into a good shooter and I feel very comfortable working off of ball screens. I continue to learn how to read defenders and take what they give me.

What areas are you hoping to continue to work on this summer'

Tyson: I am expecting to get stronger and quicker this summer as well as work on my ball-handling ability.

The young brother of Hunter, has he been able to teach you anything, or do you watch his game a lot and try to showcase that on the court'

Tyson: I watch as many of Hunter's games as I can. He has taught me how important it is to work as hard as you can every day and the importance of being able to make shots.

Have there been any battles on the court recently and how do they usually go'

Tyson: During quarantine, Hunter and I have been working out at home and playing against each other. The games have been very physical and intense but I can't announce who is leading the series at the moment. I can tell you that if anyone asked, my dad would say that he is still the best player in the family but I beg to differ.

How has your recruitment been going' What schools have been reaching out and what have they been saying'

Tyson: Recruitment has gotten off to a good start. College coaches from various levels have been communicating with my high school and AAU coaches.
