Ryan Williams 6'2 155 2021' Norfolk Collegiate School,' Norfolk VA

I've been watching Ryan for just over two years now and I'm beginning to see his body fill out with muscle development and more quickness and with that, more versatility in his game.' Always a guy who could spot up in the corner and knock down three pointers at an eye popping rate, Ryan is now adding the ability to score on the move, a nice mid range game and the ability to create off the bounce.' His jumper is picture perfect and he has repeatable mechanics in that you could film 100 of his jumpers and they will all look the same.' He catches the ball shot ready, gets to his shot pocket quickly allowing for a quick release and he gets excellent extension and follow through. He doesn't need much space to get his shot off! I watched him recently take advantage of a pair of aggressive closeouts, ball fake or use the one dribble move and reload quickly into that same familiar shooting stroke and knock down shots.' Once regarded as strictly a spot up shooter and while that's still his strength, Ryan now demonstrates the ability to create separation with the dribble and hit the deep ball but also drive and score on the move.' As he adds strength he will be able to withstand contact and become an even more effective scorer in the middle and at the rim.' His skills are certainly there as he has excellent footwork, plays on balance and has a very good basketball IQ.' Ryan has a long wingspan (6'5) and solid defensive mechanics and guards his position effectively.' His upside is exciting; a well coached and knowledgeable player, Ryan has a grasp of the fundamentals of his position and a solid work ethic coupled with that necessary ability to score the basketball.' He plays for two former NBA stars at Norfolk Collegiate in Head Coach Junior Burrough (Boston Celtics) and Jamal Robinson (Miami Heat) and their influence has been obvious in his development.' I have no doubt but that Ryan will emerge as one of the more highly regarded prospects in the 2021 class in the Hampton Roads area. 'Former Boo Williams and Wake Forest star Tony Rutland who played his high school basketball at Bethel High School in Hampton VA and trains and coaches the' Boo Williams players says Ryan is a 'knock down shooter' with great upside.' Coach Rutland was a big time shooter in high school and at Wake Forest and ranks among the ACC's all time 3 point shooting percentage leaders so those compliments come from someone who knows shooting!
