Kadin McClurg 6'2 175 2020 University HS, WV / Big Shots Elite WV

Kadin is as pure a shooter as I've seen in a long time, elite in fact! A strong and athletic guard, 'KJ' is a creative scorer in addition to his shot making exploits. Whether it's coming off screens or stepping in off the dribble he is consistent, his mechanics sound and repeatable. 'KJ' has a picture-perfect stroke complete with a high release. He elevates well and squares himself every time he shoots the ball. He gets from catch to shot pocket quickly and has a quick release, all the result of disciplined mechanics from footwork through his release. He puts on a shooting clinic every time he plays! He is consistent and efficient whether hopping into or stepping into his shot in catch and shoot scenarios or coming off screens. Also very good on dribble pull-ups and getting to the rim where he does a good job initiating contact and getting his shot off or seeking contact to get to the free throw line. He has demonstrated the ability to score off the dribble in addition to his elite shot-making ability on the perimeter and is a crafty finisher able to play through contact and finish with either hand at the rim. 'KJ' can serve as a lead guard demonstrating very good ball handling skills and decision making. He's a very good passer who doesn't force anything. He shows good upper body strength in addition to a creative handle in creating space off the dribble. 'KJ' uses a nice, quick step back crossover or hesitations to create space for his jumper and is so quick getting a shot off when shooting off the dribble it is difficult to contest. Being such a good shooter you sometimes forget how good a playmaker KJ is. He has a quick, tight handle. Uses a good burst coming off a dribble move, powerful! Changes directions nicely. Uses hesitations effectively and gets dribble penetration with pretty good regularity…and did I say he is a skilled passer' No look passes, looking off defenders, does a great job on penetrating and kick or dishing to cutters around the rim, he's more than capable in the lead guard role. KJ Is fundamentally solid defensively he has quick feet and good upper body strength that allows him to contain the dribble. Has quick hands and will get the occasional steal with his solid on-ball defense. Shows great instincts off the ball and quick reaction for steals in passing lanes. Really sound fundamentally on both ends of the floor! 'KJ' has already attracted interest from West Virginia Wesleyan, West Liberty, Chowan, and Alderson Broaddus and his Big Shots Elite WV Coach Travis Carr maintains 'KJ' has D1 potential. 'KJ's skill set is a coach's dream to have on his team. From the moment I met him and saw him on the court this spring, there was something different about this kid. He is so sound and consistent with everything he does on the offensive side. More impressive is how tough this young man is, he is a plus-defender for his position. 'KJ' is a high character young man and comes from an outstanding family who I've had the pleasure to meet and get to know. His 4.0 GPA along with everything I have mentioned have set the sky as the limit for this young man. Whichever D1 school that is able to obtain his services is going to get a great one! – Coach Travis Carr, Big Shots Elite WV / Head Coach Prince George High School, VA.
