Jayson Fain 6'5 185 2021 Carlisle School, Martinsville VA / Boo Williams 434

Jayson brings a great deal of versatility to the court on both ends of the floor as a guy who can make plays
off the dribble, knock down shots at all three levels and also rebound and defend multiple positions. He
has an outstanding physical profile at a still growing 6'5 with a long wingspan, long legs and broad
shoulders.' A frame that will certainly fill out as he adds bulk and only increase his effectiveness in all
areas.' He has good speed in the open floor and a nice burst and change of pace action in the half court
and obvious upper body strength allowing him to endure contact on dribble penetration and make plays
but also allowing for his effectiveness with post defense and rebounding.' I've watched him play every
offensive position between high school and AAU and he does so productively, efficiently and
seamlessly.' Jayson possesses very good ball handling skills using crossovers, some inside out dribble
action and step back crossovers but what makes him so effective off the bounce is his deceptive quickness
highlighted by a nice use of hesitations, his ability to stop abruptly and then blow by defenders using a
very good first step and rangy strides.' Jayson has good vision and is a crafty passer.' He is difficult for
many guards to defend because of his height and he has a nice array of scoring moves off the dribble
including a very smooth and efficient pull up jumper. He creates separation nicely with the step back
jumper and he is a shifty scorer off the dribble showing very good hip mobility allowing him to slice
through traffic and score or pound his way to the rim and finish.' Jayson is also a threat to hit the three
pointer!' A smooth shooting lefty he has excellent shot mechanics and range.' Adding to his threat from
deep is the ability to use solid footwork attacking hard closeouts and his ability to get from the arc to the
rim in one or two dribbles.' Jayson has great extension when finishing at the rim and his long wingspan
allows him to finish above the rim in space.' He defends the perimeter nicely showing excellent footwork,
the ability to get low and move his feet and stay engaged.' Jayson uses his length and solid footwork to
disrupt ball handlers and also while in help and in passing lanes where he shows very good anticipation,
instincts and quickness.' Using his 6'5 frame and physical tools that allows him to play physical and
quick, Jayson shows the willingness to battle inside for rebounds and while defending the post.' He can
snatch rebounds off the glass and go coast to coast showing fluidity and quickness with his long strides in
the open floor or give the ball up and fill passing lanes intelligently.' Jayson can also post up and has the
ability off a drop step move to shoot over top of some players at the HS level but can also employ his
upper body strength and initiate contact to score. He defends the post nicely and demonstrates toughness
in addition to his motor and persistency.' Jayson has already made an impact at the high school level and
attracted the attention of schools such as Division I VMI and NAIA power Bluefield.' He carries a
3.4GPA and earned 2nd team All Virginia Independent Conference during a stellar sophomore season.
Watch for Jayson to continue his surge among the top 2021 prospects in Virginia and certainly plenty
more Division I interest as his high school career progresses.
