Deaundre Wilkins 6’11 240 2019 Great Bridge Christian (Chesapeake VA)/Donald Hand Basketball

Deaundre has a big strong frame with imposing size at 6’11, 240 pounds and a 7’2 wingspan but also has excellent mobility and athleticism. In the past two months he has dropped 15 pounds and transformed his game from a low post player to a stretch four with all the physical and fundamental tools to have success facing the rim out to the three point arc! He is comfortable and very capable operating both facing the rim and with his back to the basket and displays a good feel away from the rim either cutting to the basket or seeking spot up opportunities in the mid range area. Deaundre is a skilled power forward with great hands and timing as a cutter/finisher. His toughness and powerful frame allows him to endure contact around the rim. He has an excellent jump hook he can shoot over either shoulder with amazing consistency. Uses a nice powerful drop step move as well when his back is to the basket and also has a turnaround jumper he can go to out of the post. Deaundre really shows great potential away from the rim operating 15-18 feet out with good shot consistency where he is comfortable facing the rim and taking advantage of a capable handle, a soft shooting touch and good shot mechanics. He has a high release point and good follow through. Deaundre can skillfully execute an impressive array of moves and counters from high, mid and low post spots and is a difficult assignment because of his size, mobility and versatility. He is the type of player you can run things through in the high post, has good court awareness and passing skills and good success with his jump shot. Good pick and pop candidate! Deaundre is an outstanding offensive rebounder thanks to his length, timing and instincts. Wows you at times with his explosiveness off two feet when he has time to gather on stick back opportunities. He is competitive and instinctual defensively. Gets in passing lanes, has good timing for blocking shots. He covers ground nicely taking advantage of his agility and quick feet. Can switch ball screens and defends the dribble nicely. Overall he has good footwork and mobility defensively and has the lateral quickness to defend small forwards away from the rim. Deaundre is a known and highly regarded commodity already receiving offers from several Division I programs including Old Dominion and Hampton. He has a ton of interest as well. Deaundre is a highly articulate young man, very outgoing. Boasts a 3.7 GPA in honors classes. He is a dominant post and as he continues to build on his perimeter potential could blossom into a high major prospect in quick order, the potential is certainly there!
