'AJ' is a tremendous athlete; he's strong and quick, agile and competitive.' He's also an exceptionally skilled and basketball savvy young man who has a great feel for the game.' AJ trains under and plays for former NBA and long time European League star Lamont Strothers and demonstrates the fundamental qualities all of Coach Strothers' pupils display!' He has sound shot mechanics, he can handle with either hand and get to the rim, he can pass with either hand and also finishes at the rim with either hand.' AJ is also physically sound with a strong upper body, powerful legs, high energy and discipline.' He has three point range and is a threat from beyond the arc as both a jump shooter stepping in off the bounce or coming off screens.' His footwork is solid, his left handed stroke smooth and repeatable and his release quick and high.' AJ attacks aggressive closeouts with length and powerful strides.' More of a downhill attacker, he uses quick rips and shot fakes and attacks the paint with purpose using few dribbles and plenty of speed.' He does have a quick and crisp crossover dribble move that will stagger a defender and is crafty enough to win isolations and physical enough to put help defenders at his mercy as he launches his attack at the basket.' AJ can get into the lane with regularity and finishes with either hand, not only at the rim but he can hit the floater or runner with either hand anywhere around the rim.' He has a great touch on his floater he uses against taller defenders, can lay it up high off the glass also against taller defenders and does a great job playing through contact and finishing.' He can overpower many defenders with strength or blow by many others with quickness and length and a solid handle.' He is a willing passer with good skills and vision. Defensively AJ is capable of guarding multiple positions as he demonstrates very good quickness and lateral mobility.' His mechanics are sound and he stays locked in.' He is also a
very good rebounding wing and really competes on every possession. He has a nose for the ball and the competitiveness to want to win every possession.' He demonstrates IQ and great anticipation off the ball for steals and can quickly turn a steal into a basket at the other end as his end to end speed and overall quickness with the dribble is impressive.' AJ is a high character young man, great work ethic and competes with confidence and enthusiasm.' This young man has an extremely high ceiling as he has all the tools physically, mentally and fundamentally and is surrounded by solid and knowledgeable basketball people.' He's an exciting talent and I expect to see him in a college uniform when that time comes. Watch for him to be one of the 757's most impactful players over the next four years!
