The 6th Annual Phenom High School Jamboree will take place Saturday, November 3rd at Northwest Guilford High School and Proehlific Park in Greensboro, North Carolina. This event has always gathered some of the top private and public school teams in the state and this year is no exception. 40 teams and 60 games will be played in an exhibition format. Now, let's take a closer look at one of the teams participating in the event. Coach Derrick Bond is in his second year of a rebuilding campaign. Last year, Bertie High School finished with a 9-16 record and plays in the Northeastern Coastal 2A conference in the NCHSAA. Coach Bond has two standout players that will make immediate impacts on the floor.

6’8 2019 Jaqwan Baylor'

We’ve had the chance to watch Jaqwan Baylor several times during our Summer High School Jam Fest and also in summer travel ball. First of all, we’re talking about a long arm, thick bodied big man who knows his role. We’ve been impressed with his passer friendly hands and touch around the rim, not to mention his relentless approach on the boards. He is a fierce rebounder on both ends of the court. Coach Bond stated, “Baylor is a long stretch 4 who has good range and solid ball skills. He rebounds very well and should be a huge force for us on the defensive end this season. He currently has offers from Denver University, Omaha University and LIU Brooklyn.”

'6’5 2020 Deontre Bryant'
Bryant is a long and lanky wing guard that showcased good perimeter skills and range. He has the ability to be a very good defender as he continues to grow and develop into his body. Coach Bond stated, “Bryant can shoot the ball really well. 'He has a chance to be a “lock down” defender. Bryant will be an excellent two-way player for us. He sports an offer from Delaware State and is getting interest from Coppin State, LIU Brooklyn and St. Louis University.,”
