Marshall Lange

What an event for Lange. Out of the 32 teams in attendance, there were a handful of players that most every scout and coach left speaking about. 6’3” Senior point guard Marshall Lange was one of these players.

The first signing period here, and many schools have either signed or missed on their early targets. Schools are opening up new recruitments looking for players to fill their needs in the 2016 class. Recruiting boards are opening up and many players should start to see recruitment pick up from some new suitors.

It has been a unique recruitment for Lange to date, starting off at tiny Wheatmore High School where Lange averaged 18 points and 6 assists.

He then played summer ball with a local team and then transferred over to Westchester Country Day School in High Point, NC. Much the same, playing in a tougher conference and against better competition, Lange averaged 18 points and 6.5 assists during his junior year.

Lange has great size for the point guard position. Not only that but he is incredibly fundamentally sound with a big IQ and a sense of flash. Lange had the ball on a string, as no defender was able to stay in front of him, and he lived in the lane.

Lange showed the ability to score the ball at three levels, he has great touch and deep range from beyond the arc. However, what stood out the most was not only Lange’s ability to make the correct decision when in the lane, but to deliver pin point passes in the shooter’s pocket. Lange’s game easily made his team mates better.

Now that you understand his skill set, let’s talk about his mentality. It is the great unknown in recruiting, however it is also what can make a good player great. Lange shined the most when the game was on the line. In Westchester’s final two (2) games, they were down by five (5) or more points with under three (3) minutes to play. In the first game of these two (2) games, Lange rang off 6 points and 2 assists and in the second game Lange rang off 9 points. The first game Westchester tied the game on a buzzer beater and the second game they won.

Currently Lange carries two (2) Division 2 offers. With his size, skill set, and mentality, Lange should be garnering offers from the Big South, Southern Conference, and Patriot Leagues. This should be the event that opens up these doors.
