The Phenom Grassroots TOC is this weekend in Rock Hill/Fort Mill, as it is the first LIVE Period with Phenom Hoops this season. The talent pool runs deep throughout and we want to give college coaches a leg up on who to watch and who will be in action. Here are a few players to check out for each team, presented by the head coach.
NC Spartans 17u Haidinger
Will Gray – 2023 6’1 PG East Forsyth High School
Will is a three level scorer who shows great competitiveness on both sides of the floor. Will was recognized as the Winston Salem Journal player of the year after averaging 22 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals per game during his Junior season. Currently Will holds an offer from USC-Upstate.
Jahreece Lynch – 2023 6’2 G North Surry High School
Jahreece is a high level athlete who holds multiple division 1 football offers and division 2 basketball offers. He is very skilled with the ball, an intense defender, and shows incredible leadership guiding his team. Jahreece averaged 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game during his junior season in which he was named first team all-conference and first team all-district
Wyatt Harbaugh – 2023 6’6 F Northwest Guilford High School
Wyatt is a relentless worker on both the offensive and defensive boards, using his strength to clear space and clean up misses. He is an extremely hard worker and is usually the strongest and most reliable player on the floor. Wyatt’s on court IQ, work ethic, and grades (4.53 GPA, 1330 SAT) should make him a priority for any high academic schools.
James McCreary – 2023 6’1 G North Surry High School
James is a high level scorer with great competitiveness and a nose for the ball. During his junior season James averaged 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.5 steals while being named all-conference and all-district.
Jordan Davis – 2023 6’3 G East Surry High School
Jordan is a 3 years varsity starter at East Surry where he averaged 17.5 points, 3 assists and 3 steals per game. Jordan shows great competitiveness on the defensive side of the floor where he is always willing to guard larger players, using his strength and aggression to create turnovers. Jordan is an excellent passer in transition and fearlessly attacks the rim.
Riggs Handy – 2023 5’7 G Bishop McGuinness High School
Riggs is an elite shooter and a tenacious defender, making up for his size by working non-stop and being overly physical. In his junior season Riggs was named all conference while averaging 15 points per game and setting the Bishop McGuinness single season school record with 104 three pointers made on 40% shooting.
Andrew Schrage – 2023 6’2 PG Bishop McGuinness
Andrew is a prototypical pass first point guard with good size for the position. He is crafty with the ball, makes open jump shots, and is a relentless defender. Andrew carried a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio while starting every game at point guard and being named All Conference.
Zach Goodman – 2024 6’2 G Caldwell Academy
Zach is the lone member of the 2024 class on this team but more than holds his own. He is a craft, wiry wing with good athleticism and a very effective jump shot. Zach plays with a calm demeanor and consistently looks to make the right play. Zach is the classic glue man that every team needs and will make his teammates better every time he is on the floor.
Caleb Ellison – 2023 6’0 PG Reagan High School
Caleb is a lightning quick Point Guard with a lethal mid-range jump shot and an excellent defensive motor. He excels in the open floor looking to set up teammates in transition and get to his jump shot in the half court. After missing a majority of his junior season due to a broken wrist Caleb is now fully recovered and will be looking to make a name for himself on the recruiting circuit this summer.
