The Phenom Grassroots TOC is this weekend in Rock Hill/Fort Mill, as it is the first LIVE Period with Phenom Hoops this season. The talent pool runs deep throughout and we want to give college coaches a leg up on who to watch and who will be in action. Here are a few players to check out for each team, presented by the head coach.
East Carolina Elite 17u
Player Name: Amari Latham
Class: 2024
Position: G/F (wing)
Game Review: Amari is a 6’5″ wing/small forward who can score and rebound, consistently racking up double-doubles. He runs the floor (a rim runner) and can defend multiple positions. He led Wayne Preparatory School in scoring this season, and led his team to a state championship title, where he received MVP honors.
Player Name: Hayes Oxendine
Class: 2025
Position: SG
Game Review: Standing at 6’2″, Hayes is a team player with a high IQ on offense and defense. He is a pure shooter and can knock down shots anywhere on the floor (especially from deep), and at Leesville Road High School this season, he won the scoring title for 4A freshmen in the State of NC in points per game (17.5 ppg), and led his team in steals (a skill where he anticipates where the ball is going), all of which helped him make 1st Team Cap-6 All Conference as a freshman.
Player Name: Jack Adair
Class: 2023
Position: G/F
Game Review: Jack is a 6’2″ wing player who, on the defensive end, gets steals by being in the right place defensively and rebounding. On the offensive end, he has savvy to his game with a lot of unexpected speed and a lot of athleticism that opponents do not expect when finishing at the rim. He shows a lot of leadership, and wants to win whether he’s on the floor or not.
Player Name: Montez Green
Class: 2022
Position: PG/SG
Game Review: Montez is a 6’1″ combo guard that is a playmaker who can create a shot for his teammates or himself at any time. He is a threat from deep anywhere on the floor, and on the defensive end he puts pressure on the ball full court all game. More importantly, he is a leader.
